About The Library

Library of Indian Institute of Management Calcutta was set up in March 1962 and named as B. C. Roy Memorial Library in the memory of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the first chairman of the institute. The library of the institute is housed in a separate building of carpet area of approximately 30000 sqft. spread over three floors. This library is considered to be one of the best libraries in Asia in the area of Management Science and Allied Subjects. It acts as the learning resource centre and occupies a unique place in academic and research activities of the Institute. It is a fully automated modern Library and Information Centre which provides current, accurate and authoritative information from print and electronic resources using state-of-the-art technology.

Monday - Friday 09:15 AM - 06:00 AM following day
Weekends and other holidays 10:00 AM - 06:00 AM following day

Everyday stacks are closed at 10:00PM.
Library remains close on three National Holidays namely Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhiji's birthday and on the occasion of Holi, Mahashtami and Dussehra.

Facilities

Self Check-in / Check-out Kiosk

The B. C. Roy Memorial Library has a self check-in/ check-out kiosk located in the Users’ Assistance Desk of the library.

Book Requisition

This facility enables members to send recommendations for new books. The library makes every effort to procure books requested by faculty members and Doctoral students. You submit your recommendations online by clicking the below button.

Carrel

B. C. Roy Memorial library has 32 numbers of Carrels, available for Research Scholars and Faculties only on a request basis. Restricted Users may request their Carrel to Circulation Section. Please drop a mail (users-assistance@iimcal.ac.in). The available carrels will be distributed among the requesters according to the decisions made by the Competent Authority.

Remote Access

The Remote Access facility helps the current users to access library resources when they are off campus.

Service to the Visually Impaired Users

The library provides services to visually challenged students using Kibo 360 Software, where the Reading Materials are scanned and converted to audible format. Reading materials are also converted into searchable pdf format using these software.
